​Dr. Debor​ah Fishman

Dr. Deborah Fishman holds a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Denver, where she specialized in couples and family therapy. Throughout her academic and clinical career, she has developed a deep understanding of attachment theory and its applications to relational healing. Her clinical approach is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a research-based model that focuses on fostering emotional connection and security within relationships.

With over a decade of experience, Dr. Fishman has worked with individuals, couples, and families to address a wide range of relational and emotional challenges. Her expertise lies in helping clients navigate critical life transitions—such as marriage, parenthood, divorce, and career shifts—while improving emotional intimacy and strengthening bonds.

Dr. Fishman’s clinical work spans several areas, including:

Professional Experience

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Fishman is an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Graduate School of Professional Psychology, where she teaches courses in couples and family therapy. She also supervises doctoral students as they work with couples and families at the Professional Psychology Center.​ Additionally, Dr. Fishman was actively involved as the staff psychologist at JCC Ranch Camp, consulting with staff through the Denver Jewish Community Center. She also teaches a prenatal class for expectant mothers at the Jewish Community Center in Denver, helping them prepare for the challenges of motherhood with support and guidance.
 

Therapeutic Philosophy

Dr. Fishman’s approach is relational, interactive, and collaborative. She believes in the power of creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can feel supported as they work through personal and relational challenges. She helps clients explore their emotions and develop practical skills for managing stress, improving communication, and building deeper connections with others.

Her work is grounded in an inclusive philosophy, welcoming individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities.
